Guy Thompson, EnTrade MD joins Dr Rich Stockdale, visionary environmentalist and CEO of Oxygen Conservation for a Shoot Room Session podcast – a ground-breaking podcast series that reimagines conservation and explores how we can scale its impact. The questions discussed are wide-ranging such as; what if the environment sector doesn’t really exist?
Guy and Rich challenge the very idea of the sector, this isn’t polite policy chat—it’s disruption, opportunity, and the fight to make nature markets real.
They explore why £3 trillion in potential returns are being ignored and ask whether nature markets are truly about environmental restoration—or just clever offsets. From regulatory roadblocks to bold innovation, they tackle the uncomfortable truths holding back investment in nature. Guy’s argument is that without disruption, new technologies, and fresh business models, the sector will never be worthy of its name. So what does it actually take to make nature markets investable, scalable, and genuinely impactful?
Oxygen Conservation was founded with the aim of tackling the climate crisis and biodiversity collapse. They do this by Scaling Conservation across the UK, investing directly in the acquisition of land to protect and restore natural processes. Storing carbon, providing space for nature, and delivering positive environmental and social impacts. This in turn produces a range of natural capital products and services, which are used to fund the acquisition and restoration of more land, allowing nature to pay to protect itself.
